Zach Gentry, CFP®, CPA

At Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, Zach studied Accounting and Finance. Initially interested in financial planning, Zach pivoted his focus to Accounting after being asked to provide a list of 500 family and friends to an insurance company during an internship interview. Although undecided about his future career, he knew he wanted to devote his time and expertise to serving, not selling.

At KPMG, Zach obtained his CPA license and learned to read, understand, and analyze a company’s financial statements. While he enjoyed the relationships built and the learning demanded by the technical profession, Zach desired to work more closely with individuals and families. After revisiting the world of personal finance, Zach discovered opportunities that prioritized meaningful relationships and technical acumen over sales and transactions. As he familiarized himself with individual’s and family’s net worths and cash flows, he recognized the similarities to corporate balance sheets and income statements from his accounting days. Because of this expertise, coupled with his ability to coordinate with other professionals (tax preparers, attorneys, insurance agents, bankers, etc.), clients often see Zach as their personal Chief Financial Officer.

Nearly a decade later, Zach believes he has one of the best jobs in the world. Not only does he get to deliver quantitative value, but he’s also amazed at the qualitative benefit clients experience, whether it be an objective perspective, accountability, or newfound contentment. And, best of all, Zach is thankful for the continual impact clients have on him. He appreciates and admires their thoughtfulness, gratitude, wisdom, generosity, and friendship.

Over the last several years, Zach obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ mark and became a Certified Kingdom Advisor® (or CKA, which equips him to offer specialized advice that aligns with the values and priorities of Christians). Zach is a member of XY Planning Network, an organization providing support, technology, and back-office services to over 2,000 independent advisors.

Zach and his wife live in Fishers and enjoy playing pickleball, golf, and board games with their friends. They also love serving at their local church, where they enjoy welcoming visitors and building new relationships.
